In April 1973, the Celica LB was introduced as an addition to the first-generation A20 Celica series. Featuring a “third door” known as the liftback, the Celica LB became an instant hit upon release. By 1975, it complied with the 1975 emission regulations, and in the following year, the 2-liter DOHC model met the 1976 standards. To meet these regulations, many improvements and changes were carried out.
