The Pinnacle of the 901 Movement
The BNR32 GT-R made its debut in August 1989, during the peak of Japan’s economic bubble, as an additional model to the R32 Skyline, which had already launched as the “Hyper Sensory Skyline.” After a 16-year absence since the Kenmeri GT-R, the legendary “Skyline GT-R” lineage was revived.
The BNR32 was born to dominate the Group A races in the JTC All Japan Touring Car Championship, the highest level of touring car racing in Japan at the time. Its specially designed powerhouse, the RB26DETT engine, was built to meet Group A regulations regarding displacement.
In the JTC Championship, the BNR32 Skyline GT-R achieved complete victory in every race it entered, culminating in a legendary streak of 29 consecutive wins. From its debut onward, the races became a GT-R one-make affair. Whether on the street or the circuit, the BNR32 reigned supreme across all stages, rewriting automotive history as a truly iconic machine.
