The MGB made a dazzling debut at the 1962 London Motor Show and went on to become a massive long-selling hit, with over 520,000 units sold before production ended on October 22, 1980. Over its 18-year model life, the basic body shape, chassis, and engine remained largely unchanged. However, continuous refinements over the years led to steady evolution beneath the surface. As a result, even models that appear identical at first glance can be dated down to the exact month by examining the exterior, interior, and engine bay.
